Projects Engineer - Roading

The South Taranaki District Council is seeking a proactive and motivated individual to fill this key position in the Projects Unit. This is a permanent full time 40 hour per/week position based at the Administration Building in Hawera and will work closely with the Roading Team Leader and team.

This is a newly created position and an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering Council's roading projects. We are looking for a dynamic person who can build good relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and assist in delivering projects on time and within budget, from initiation through to implementation.

The key purpose of the position is primarily to undertake Roading capital projects and works, including design, as required by the Projects Manager. The position will also undertake other capital works and project management as approved in the Long Term and Annual Plans and directed by the Projects Manager.

The ideal applicant will have the following:

  • Diploma in Civil Engineering or Roading
  • Competent in using AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Extensive experience in Civil Engineering standards and codes of practice, construction practices, design and management
  • Experience in Project Management
  • Experience in Contract Law, Contract Supervision and Construction Methodologies
  • Competent in Health and Safety practices
  • Full, clean NZ driver's licence
