About the Role - The purpose of this job is to ensure Te Kaunihera ō Taranaki ki Te Tonga (South Taranaki District Council): complies with its obligations under the Privacy Act 2020; raises its maturity in relation to privacy issues; administers All of Government (AOG) and other key corporate contracts (including extensions and renewals of contracts) effectively; monitors AOG and other suppliers' performance against service level agreements; and complies with its obligations under the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 (LGOIMA).
Do you have what it takes? - This is a busy, varied role that will require you to deal with staff across all departments to ensure we meet our privacy and LGOIMA obligations, and deal with CCTV footage requests effectively. You will need to liaise with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner, the Council's Legal and Procurement Manager, Councillors and other stakeholders, as required. You will be required to participate in the development of policy and management of risk as they relate to all privacy matters. The purchasing aspect of this role will also require you to keep the Service Level Agreements we have with suppliers up-to-date and monitor performance accordingly.
About you - you are a team player with a good understanding of the Privacy Act 2020, great attention to detail, able to analyse complex information for discrepancies and inconsistencies. You will also have great people and communication skills, as well as a strong customer-service ethic. Knowledge of Tikanga Māori would be an advantage.
Applicants for this position must be legally entitled to work in New Zealand, therefore must have NZ residency or hold a valid NZ work visa. In terms of residence class visa applications, priority will be given where the applicant is in New Zealand.
The salary range for this position is between $77,220pa and $85,800pa and the appointed starting level will be dependent on skills and experience and will be discussed during interviews with shortlisted candidates.
