Roading Asset Engineer

The South Taranaki District Council is seeking a proactive and motivated individual to fill this key position in the Strategic Assets Unit. This is a permanent full time 40 hour per/week position based in Hawera and will work closely with the Roading Team Leader and team.

This is a newly created position and an exciting opportunity to play a key role in ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of roading services through providing industry leading asset management. We are looking for a dynamic person who can build good relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and assist in delivering projects on time and within budget from initiation through to implementation.

The key purpose of the position is to deliver asset management services for the Roading activity, including the production of the Roading AMP. As the system administrator for the RAMM asset database, ensure that accurate fully justified data is available to produce the capital works programmes. In addition, strategies for the long-term planning for the Roading network are analysed and modelled to optimise service delivery.

The ideal applicant will have the following:

  • University Degree in Engineering/Sciences or equivalent through extensive experience
  • Substantial experience in the application of RAMM system
  • Practical experience in writing Asset Management Plans and the development of works programmes
  • Understanding of capital and operational accounting and asset depreciation
  • Knowledge of Engineering Standards and practices and Engineering operations and maintenance activities
  • Full, clean NZ driver's license

Applicants must be proactive, self-motivated, well organised and committed to providing excellent service and deliver quality results. Previous experience in Asset Management systems, GIS, CAD and document management systems and the manipulation and use of large amounts of data in a database application would be advantageous.
