About the Role - The purpose of the position is to manage and maintain the organisation's corporate GIS service and associated processes, systems, and spatial data, ensuring information is accurate, reliable, and fit for organisational use. The role applies GIS tools and spatial analysis to support operational delivery, planning, and decision‑making, supports the integration of GIS with enterprise systems, and works with internal teams and external partners to meet spatial information requirements.

The position also supports the development and effective use of spatial data and services across the organisation, designs and delivers GIS solutions using hands‑on spatial programming capability and provides specialist GIS support for Civil Defence activities as required.

Do you have what it takes? - This is a busy role and if you want plenty of variety, this role has it from performing GIS data collection, maintenance, and undertaking reviews as per spatial data governance procedures, providing user training for GIS applications and working with knowledge experts to recognise and build spatial data awareness. It will also provide the first level information requests, reporting requests and data enquiries, will undertake ETL processing and support the Information Services and business teams to ensure the proposed approach aligns with the Digital Transformation Strategy (DTS) and therefore with the organisation's GIS, data and application objectives and aspirations.

About You - You are an energetic, passionate, and self-driven GIS professional with a strong can-do attitude who thrives in a collaborative team environment. You learn quickly, adapt well to new challenges, and consistently apply your technical expertise to deliver high quality spatial solutions. You bring at least two years of experience in cartographic mapping, spatial and visual data analysis, and web GIS delivery, supported by a degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science or related field. You also possess excellent communication skills, enabling you to translate spatial data and clearly convey technical information to diverse audiences.

You have hands-on knowledge of the ArcGIS platform, including ArcGIS Enterprise, web and local maps, online solutions, along with experience using FME technology and APIs. You are confident in configuring and optimising GIS platforms, including system upgrades, SQL, ETL processes, and data pipelines, with an appreciation for cloud environments. You are highly capable of curating, editing, and wrangling data from a wide range of structured and unstructured sources. Local government and public sector knowledge are paramount as is knowledge of and demonstrated experience in managing and delivering projects.

The salary range for this position is between $83,430pa and $92,700pa and the appointed starting level will be dependent on skills and experience and will be discussed during interviews with shortlisted candidates. This is a full time, 40 hour per week role.
